I am new to this futures trading, and I heard from my friends, that the commodity exchange is highly volatile and risky. Can any one brief about the risk factor since I am so interested in futures and want to start immediately.

I don't know your experience in the market, what interests are drawing you to futures,or anything else about your situation so I will assume you are an enthusiastic opportunist. The risk factors for anything in life are greatest to those who don't understand the dangers and how to minimalize that risk through strategy. I don't know to much about futures except basics from reading investotopia.com(I misspelled it I'm sure), but I now a lot about risk assessment. I would start out playing without money. Then once you find methods that work via reading, friends, and good old experience start small to minimalize losses during your transition and once you discover solid trends go for the gusto. After your experience in the market, good advice from strangers will be absorbed more effectively and bad advice identified and discarded without losses. Tom I can say is a great guy who will guide you right, but without experience you will be at a disadvantage of making the best of it. Good luck and let's journal your experiences in futures here. We can help you brainstorm to bring all of our games to the next level in futures.

Hi Joan, It is not as risky as your friends suggested. The futures markets are in one way reduces price risk for commodities. The futures market is competitive and complex by nature, but if you can understand the functions clearly, managing your funds is almost easy. Search for some websites, blogs, or books to know more about the trading basics and market terms. Well! I can suggest you to have a look at this blog http://expertfuturestrading.com/ , since the author is an experienced futures trader and offer valuable advice for traders.
